Stupid people, stupid rules

Recently, the dean informed that the VC has instructed that all faculties must have rest areas where postgraduate students can rest and take short naps. The VC got the idea to implement this when visiting universities in Australia, where this is the trend. I have no objection with emulating good practices at top ranking universities (by the way, are they top ranking universities?)

Which made me wonder which top-ranking universities Ghauth is emulating when he issued a circular prohibiting staff from eating/drinking at the canteen during office hour.

I graduated from a university that is ranked among the top 50 in the world and that university does not have stupid rules like this one. At that university, the management trust people to manage their time wisely. As long as they’re producing what is expected of them, no one cares or questions how and when they spend they time.

UM letterhead then and now

This is UM letterhead before Ghauth’s era.

This is the changes Ghauth made to the letterhead.

Which design do you prefer?

UM professor won an international award

Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman for winning the Advance Global Australian Award. You make us proud, not to mention proof Dictator Ghauth wrong when he stated that UM has never been any good. Or may be the reporter heard him wrong. May be Ghauth was admitting that he is no good Vice Chancellor.

I’m still waiting for Pagar Berduri (who has changed his/her nickname to something else — I can’t remember what — not that it’s worth remembering) to list the numerous awards and international recognitions Ghauth has received from world class universities. Either the list is very long or Pagar Berduri is very slow. Or may be there’s simply nothing to list at all.

UM staff appointed as fellow at Cambridge University

Prof. Dr. Suseela Malakolunthu from the Department of Education management has been appointed as a fellow at Cambridge University, UK. If it’s true that UM has never been any good as Ghauth claimed, how on earth did an academic staff from UM managed to get a recognition from a world class university like Cambridge?

The truth is the biggest, one and only, good for nothing crap that we should kick out of UM is Ghauth Jasmon.

Since Ghauth is very fond of bragging, could someone please list all of Ghauth Jasmon’s outstanding accomplishments, especially recognitions Ghauth has received from top ranking, world class universities. I’m sure it’s very long. So if someone could just list between 10 – 20, it should be to suffice to prove what an outstanding academic Ghauth is. Perhaps Pagar Berduri would like to take up this challenge?

RM300 compound for clamped cars

This is an email from the security office informing UM citizens that the compound for car clamping has been raised form RM50 to RM300 (6x increase).

My car has never been clamped because I’m a law-abiding citizen. I’m just wondering what is the justification for the increase.

Of course, there is no way for us to find out or ask for an explanation / justification because Ghauth ‘Dictator’ Jasmon has closed all forms of discussion.

Can’t complain that life on campus is boring.

Believe it or not

Did you know that Ghauth Jasmon’s son was a PhD student at Universiti Malaya?

Isn’t it strange that Ghauth let his son study at a university that he considered to be no good?

When Ghauth’s son submitted his 75-page PhD thesis last year, the internal examiner recommended that he passed with minor correction. One external examiner recommended that he passed with major correction while the other external examiner recommended that his thesis be re-examined because it did not meet the quality and standard for a doctoral degree.

The board of examiner recommended that he passed with major correction. I guess there are perks when daddy is the vice chancellor.

Ghauth’s son is the perfect example of a no good student from a university that is becoming increasingly no good under Ghauth’s watch. Ghauth must be so proud that his son finally graduated from a university that has never been any good.

So UM has never been any good, eh?
